about

Written in 1979, Submerged Cutlery strings together a random list of events from our time as students on the Foundation Art & Design course at Solihull Tech where in 1977 we transformed over night from hippys and soulboys into identikit punks.

lyrics

SUBMERGED CUTLERY

Throwing cups and saucers and spoons into a pond
Don’t mess with the best ‘cos the best don’t mess with the rest
That man tried it and look what happened to his tea things
So beware stranger things could happen to you

Throwing boys with brand new pumps into a pond
We covered another with beans and custard from a can
Regular scorn from the spanner boys in their baggies
Because they know we have more fun than you

Oh McNamara x 4

Throwing cups and saucers and spoons into a lake
Putting up with jokes from the one who’s fond of the cake
Having a fight backstage on Spizz at Barbarellas
Introducing Spiney to his double in the band

Oh McNamara x 4

Guitar solo

Throwing cups and saucers and spoons into a pond
