BOREDOM CLUB was recorded during the DERITEND sessions.
It is now being released as the band’s salute to our original vocalist, founder, and the man responsible for giving the band its name – Gary Jones, who passed away on March 4th 2022 after battling with cancer. Everything Cult Figures will be working on from here will be in dedication to his memory.
BOREDOM CLUB – there’s one in every town. Written back in 1979 in the original incarnation of the band as a punk thrash, but reconstituted in the 21st century as a country/skiffle hoedown. A live version of this from 2016 is available on “Just Another Christmas”. This version has the full production treatment – pub chatter, whistles, an exchange between bartender and customer, and a beery belch!
Proceeds from the single will be donated to St Joseph’s Hospice.
Love ya always Gary – Cult Figures xx
lyrics
BOREDOM CLUB
The Boredom Club - throw your darts
The Boredom Club - old men’s farts
The Boredom Club - shake your fist
The Boredom Club - we all get pissed
The Boredom Club - Bingo Night
The Boredom Club – there’s gonna be a fight
The Boredom Club - Chicken in the Basket
The Boredom Club - Burger in the Basket
Aaaah Aaaah Aaaah
The Boredom Club - red plush seats
The Boredom Club - stolen meat
The Boredom Club - smells of sweat
The Boredom Club - the ceiling’s wet
Aaaah Aaaah Aaaah
Are you being served?
Yes please love, a pint of your finest bitter, a port and lemon and a packet of pork scratchings for the lady. I’ll have a couple of pickled eggs, a pork pie and a Bloody Mary.
Anything else?
A couple of paracetamol, I’ve got a banging headache bab, from all this racket
The Boredom Club - smells of skunk
The Boredom Club - he used to be a punk
The Boredom Club - she used to be a raver
The Boredom Club - belligerent behaviour
Aaaah Aaaah Aaaah
Aaaah Aaaah Aaaah
The Boredom Club x 5
If your name’s not down x 3
You’re not coming in

Exceptional punk music! I love sloppy punk, but this manages to be clean without without losing any energy at all (maybe even getting more of it in the process!). Can't recommend it enough and show them to everyone I know zacharypinkham
