about

SOMETHING ABOUT YOU and BOREDOM CLUB are two previously unreleased songs recorded during the DERITEND sessions. Both are fine tracks in their own right but we felt they didn’t fit within the album’s framework.

The songs are now being released as the band’s salute to our original vocalist, founder, and the man responsible for giving the band its name – Gary Jones, who passed away on March 4th 2022 after battling with cancer. Everything Cult Figures will be working on from here will be in dedication to his memory.

SOMETHING ABOUT YOU is a timely punky rant against figures of authority who have bitten off more than they can chew but still choose to choke on their ill-advised gorging.

BOREDOM CLUB – there’s one in every town. Written back in 1979 in the original incarnation of the band as a punk thrash, but reconstituted in the 21st century as a country/skiffle hoedown. A live version of this from 2016 is available on “Just Another Christmas”. This version has the full production treatment – pub chatter, whistles, an exchange between bartender and customer, and a beery belch!

Proceeds from the single will be donated to St Joseph’s Hospice.

Love ya always Gary – Cult Figures xx
